SWC300 Luxury 3 Night Itinerary

Day 1

Start your day on top of the world in Scotland’s highest village Wanlockhead. Exit the A74(M) at Exit 13 (Abbington) or Exit 14 (Crawford and Elvanfoot) and follow the signs towards Leadhills then Wanlockhead. Many people assume that Scotland’s highest village is in the Highlands, but it is here in the Southern Uplands.

From Wanlockhead travel east across the breathtaking Mennock Pass (pictured above) and take a small detour south to Drumlanrig Castle. The gardens and estate are open from early April till late September from 10-5 each day. The Castle itself is open for tours in July and August, but pre-arranged group visits can be booked in advance outside of those months. For more information visit www.drumlanrigcastle.co.uk.
