September already!

My last entry in our blog, way back in June, seems like a long time ago now and much has happened here since then.

The biggest news to report is that we have some new members of staff that are going to make such a difference. Michael Fons and Megumi Ishii, Michael has joined us as Restaurant Manager from Tom Kitchin’s restaurant in Edinburgh. Michael’s professionalism will help propel us towards achieving our aims for Blackaddie. His girl friend, now fiancée, has joined us as Assistant Manager and her role is very much to ensure that the customer experience, from arrival to departure, is the best we can possibly make it. With Michael and Megumi in place we can now look to pushing forward with more of our plans sooner rather than later.

The hotel has been extremely busy over the summer months although you’d be forgiven for asking – what summer! It just does not seem to stop raining, let’s hope for one of those Indian Summers and the sooner the better. The Open held this year at Turnberry was a sell out for us which was good and I hope it returns to Turnberry sooner that the 15 years it’s taken since it was last held there.

The river is in good condition, must be something to do with the rain we’re having, and fish are being caught so if you’re thinking of a spot of salmon fishing there’s no time like the present!

We have now completed all the work that was necessary on the roof and the conservatory to make the hotel watertight, something it’s probably not been for many many years. Now that is completed we are now turning our attention to the rooms. We hope to have three rooms finished in time for Christmas then early in the New Year we will complete the refurbishment of the ground floor.

Talking of New Year please see the web site for our Christmas and New Year packages – fantastic value for money, especially once we’ve completed some of the rooms. We are filling up fast though so if you are thinking of coming don’t leave it too late to book.
